Andre Rozier Hoping Daniel Jacobs Takes On Caleb Plant Soon

Daniel Jacobs has not only maintained an enduring career but has also experienced financial success, particularly in lucrative bouts against Gennadiy Golovkin, Peter Quillin, and, notably, Canelo Alvarez. Despite facing setbacks in some of these encounters, Jacobs persisted. His triumph includes a fifth-round stoppage win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in 2019, followed by a lackluster performance against Gabriel Rosado. In his most recent appearance, disappointment ensued as two of three ringside judges awarded John Ryder a split-decision victory.

Since then, Jacobs has remained off the radar, enjoying a break from the sport. However, Andre Rozier, his longstanding trainer, is confident that Jacobs is prepared to make a comeback.

"We wanna get back in shape," disclosed Rozier in an interview with BoxingScene.com. "He has had a break and has been tending to some business matters." Competing at 168 pounds, Jacobs (37-4, 30 KOs) is poised to be a contender. With name recognition, championship credentials, and seemingly the skills to compete with the division's elite, Jacobs is in a favorable position. However, the challenge lies in the fact that numerous top contenders eagerly await a call from Canelo Alvarez.

The inclusion of David Benavidez, David Morrell, and Jermall Charlo in the mix doesn't faze Rozier in the least. The esteemed trainer is someone who has a well-thought-out strategy. Those names mentioned earlier were never considerations from the start, so Rozier is not concerned about their standing. Instead, Rozier has a specific target in mind. This individual is highly ranked, a former world champion, and a victory over him could potentially reposition Jacobs on the path to success.

“If we get one or two good ones in, I would like to see a Caleb Plant fight.”

"We aim to regain fitness," disclosed Rozier in an interview with BoxingScene.com. "He has had a break and has been tending to some business matters."
